For the 10th instalment of Urban Playlists, we’ve decided to start off by showing some love to our favourite hypnotic synth-pop tunes that are perfect for mellow moods or long drives home. We also feature new sultry RNB drops in this month’s music roundup.
OUR THREE FAVOURITES
DVSN – p.o.v
The OVO duo, dvsn which consists of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 dropped P.O.V, a Maxwell-Inspired single that is on our replay and will soon be on yours. The production features a humming base line, low-end synths and sensual vocals throughout. If “Mood” and “P.O.V” are anything to go by then their Morning After sophomore LP is definitely one to purchase.
SUMMERELLA – BODAKRELLA
R&B singer and social media star, Summerella surprised us all when she posted a cover of Cardi B’s – Bodak Yellow on her Instagram channel. The public fell in love with the 60 second snippet and demanded more. Summerella listened and gave us what we wanted – a full version of her cover called Bodakrella. She turned the hottest Hip-Hop song of 2017 into an R&B slow cut and it’s pure genius.
SABRINA cLAUDIO – FROZEN
Sabrina Claudio finally dropped her anticipated LP “About Time” and we are in awe. Her sultry voice combined with lush harmonies and pleasing soulful tones make her latest offering, a work of art. On “Frozen”, she proves to be a powerful lyricist that is one to watch. We give “Frozen” a 5/5 for the soulful arrangement.
